So this is the bike I am going to buy soon. I test rode the Trek 5 series and Trek 6 series, the Specialized Rockhopper disc, Cannondale f5 and f7, and finally the Giant Yukon. I like the Yukon the best because it felt really good to when riding. It almost was designed for my body. I am 5 foot 11 inches tall, I tried the Large which is the 20 inch frame. I liked that it felt very solid and rigid. I read that the frame and wheels are very strong and og good quality. It comes with Hayes Mechanical disc brakes MX-4, which are in the entry level grade, but those will soon be replaced.

I just bought this bike yesterday as my entry level bike. I’m also 5′11 and it fits me great too! I took it on a nice newbie trail right after I got it and everything just felt natural. This post was in april, do you have an update on how its working out for you and some parts you found you needed to upgrade? That braking system maybe?
Actually, you know what happened, I ended up taking the bike back to the shop and I upgraded to the Giant XTC 2. For $150 more, you get tons more for the money, but you made a great choice with the Yukon, trust me, you won’t be dissapointed.
In regards to the brakes, the Hayes units are not the best, but they do a hell of a job stopping going 25 mph downhill. If you do upgrade, go with the hydraulic brakes.
